Bhutan or Bust
Another Adventure is here! I am in my final preparations for my 2024 Strive Challenge this time in a magical world of Bhutan. This country, a buddhist kingdom in the eastern Himalayas, focuses on GNH — Gross National Happiness. It’s one of the most exclusive destinations in the world as it only lets a certain number of visitors in each year.
This adventure includes 5 days of hiking, 3 days mountain biking (new for me!), and 1 day of river rafting. I am hopeful my training this year for 29029 carries over so I have shifted my focus to time on feet as well as time in seat (my bike seat that is!)

Then after seeing the country by foot, we shift to mountain bikes! I’ve never mountain biked before so I’ve been getting time in the saddle but mostly on roads, hoping its enough combined with my overall fitness level and desire to learn on the job.
I am extremely excited for this adventure and to meet the other strivers from around the world! This also is a perfect level of intimidating and putting me outside of my comfort zone which is the Personal growth zone! If its hard its worth doing!
“If you don’t quit, you can’t lose”
I’ll be departing for this epic journey from Atlanta on October 9th to meet up with the team in Bangkok before jumping on a plane to fly into Bhutan, which apparently is the first thrill of the journey as Paro airport is one of the hardest airports to land due to visibility of the runway from the Himalayas. Only a handful of pilots are allowed to fly here! 😳
