Bhutan vs. Hong Kong World Cup

A surprise addition to our Strive Challenge! We arrived in Thimpu for one night in a hotel switching gear from hiking to biking and some Strivers ran into the manager and goalie of the Hong Kong soccer team and learned there was a world cup qualifier game that night in the city just a 4 minute walk from our hotel! We lucked out by getting 40 tickets and stormed the stadium with many wearing the Bhutanese orange jersey to show our support!

Apparently Bhutan lost to Hong Kong in the previous game 0-30! But with our excitement Bhutan ended up winning 2-0!!!

We made such a presence with our large group of tourists that everyone in the stadium took notice. We even made the front page news of the paper the next morning!

The stadium was nice, not huge, but the most entertaining aspect was the score board that was a powerpoint presentation behind the scenes and had to be updated manually.
