Meeting the King of Bhutan

We were incredibly lucky to have a private audience with his majesty at the end of our journey in Thimpu Bhutan for lunch. Every striver had the opportunity to stand up and introduce ourselves to the King, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, known as the Dragon King!

We had about two hours of time with his majesty as he discussed with us his vision for Bhutan. We were very lucky to also have the honor to pose with him on the lawn in our ghos (men) and Kira (women) that we all shopped for in Paro prior to meeting him. He is very intelligent and his approach to being a modern king thinking through how to build Bhutan while keeping its culture and values like Gross National Happiness in tact is really admirable.
