Tyler Thrives

Nothing beats seeing your child be happy, try new things and exceed expectations! All three happened and more at the Namotu Island Family Week this year! We took Tyler to our favorite place on earth for the first time and weren’t sure what he’d think of it. Well, he absolutely thrived and jumped in with both feet, fell in love with the island and his coach, tried everything the island had to offer AND tried a lot of new things! We were beyond ecstatic to witness his growth, courage and motivation on the island!

First Time Surfing

We brought Tyler to the island to try real surfing. He’s already a great wake surfer at the lake behind a boat but this will be different. We prepared with swimming lessons prior to going as getting pinned under a wave could scare him and he needed to be strong in the water. it helped!

Tyler was nervous however he went out with a brave face and tackled the challenge without a sweat. The dude stood up on the FIRST wave like i was no big deal and kept standing and standing and catching all the waves! Throughout the week he went on pretty big waves that still intimidate me!

First ice bath!

I never thought Tyler would enter an ice bath! At the beginning of the week he would dip his toe in or foot but run away. On the last day he got into the bath for 27 seconds! 🤯

First foil session

Tyler has e-foiled at the lake but never has tried the regular foil that Daddy does. It took me 3 sessions before I could get up and figure it out, but only after like 6 attempts on the first session Tyler did it! Again, his coordination and athleticism shocked us. While this was all going down the top 4 surfers of the world happened to be sitting at the bar on Namotu and cheered Tyler on! He has no idea how cool that is!

More First Times…

And that’s not all folks! Tyler flew the trainer kite, he tried the newest craze and flew the wing, and he had his first helicopter ride off the island with the most spectacular views! He got to drive the jet ski in the ocean and jump off a floating bar in the middle of fiji!

what a week!

Once we landed at the airport tyler immediately said, “ I miss namotu.” We agree with you buddy! leaving is always the hardest part but we will be back!
