Big Education Conversations

While in Kenya last month hiking up the second tallest mountain in Africa with Big Change, our group held the highest ever #BigEducationConversation, an initiative developed by #BigChange to get people from all parts of society talking about the purpose of #education. The global initiative is aiming to support 1 Million conversations in communities around the world.

My small group discussed incredible topics such as learning differences like ADHD and dyslexia which happened to touch most of the group in some way. However, most schools and educators aren't fully equipped to allow these children to shine bright. Consequently, when a child with a learning difference feels different or isn't supported correctly their learning could be stifled, they could become self conscious about themselves or worse stop trying because they label themselves as "dumb" or "stupid".

Additionally, we all agreed that Education is a gateway to sparking curiosity in kids which allows for further growth and learning throughout life. To be CURIOUS is to be INQUISITIVE and to seek information. Such an important characteristic to groom in our youth.
