Colin O’Brady’s 12Hour Walk

I have always been active and healthy but recently I have kicked into a new gear of layering in adventure for added experience & personal growth.  Getting outside of your comfort zone is the best way to reach deep down into your soul to uncover something new within, give it oxygen and let it grow.  I’ve been known to openly admit “I dislike hiking” which is laughable since I often find myself hiking big peaks.  I realize that pain is part of the journey to get to the personal reward it will provide, so I say “YES” to these opportunities because I know there is a reward to come.

I recently read Colin O'Brady's book, 12 Hour Walk, that touched on this topic in detail and it lit a huge raging fire inside me of excitement. I have a new spark of enthusiasm to get outside and do things that are not only novel but offer a challenging #adventures. It’s only when you push yourself to a physical limit and crack that you have the opportunity to rebuild a stronger foundation!

Colin has an incredible story of defeat that is turned into triumph on multiple occasions. He is a great model of #perseverance and grit who in the end pocketed 10 world records with that determined mindset! (So badass!)  And it’s never all rainbows and butterflies which makes the success 10x sweeter and more meaningful. “No pain, no gain,” right?!!

So, I am going to commit to a 12 Hour Walk (date tbd) to have the time to reflect, soul search and have a personal therapy session while walking without technology or contact with the world.  It’ll be me, myself and nature!  I highly recommend reading the book and committing to a 12 Hour Walk – who’s in!?
